Jared Bednar's Family

Jared Bednar is a Canadian former ice hockey player turned coach. He is currently serving as a head coach for the Colorado Avalanche of the National Hockey League (NHL).

Bednar started his hockey career in WHL and played junior hockey with them and progressed to the ECHL with Huntington Blizzard. He later joined the South Carolina Stingrays in the AHL and spent most of the seasons with them and retired from playing in 2002.

Bednar has achieved many milestones in his coaching career, he led the Colorado Avalanche to winning the prestigious Stanley Cup in 2022 and became the first coach to win three championships in the ECHL Kelly, AHL Calder, and NHL Stanley. Bednar signed with the Colorado Avalanche as a head coach on August 25, 2016 and is still serving them as a head coach.

Jared Bednar’s Parents

Jared Bednar was born on February 28, 1972, in Yorkton, Saskatchewan, Canada, to parents Wally and Yvonne Bednar. He developed an interest in hockey during his childhood years. He grew up in Saskatchewan with his two siblings, a brother and a sister. He started his hockey career in his hometown with Saskatoon Blades and played with multiple teams there including Spokane Chiefs, Medicine Hat Tigers, and Prince Albert Raiders in WHL. Jared scored his career-high 200 points in his second season in the WHL with the Spokane Chiefs. Progressing to the Eastern Coast Hockey League, he played with the Huntington Blizzard later with the South Carolina Stingrays. During the 1999-2000 season, he contributed 214 points with the Stingrays. Jared also participated in the AHL with the St. John's Maple Leafs and Rochester's American in 1996-1997 and 1999-00 respectively.

Apart from his professional success, Bednar is a husband and father of two in his personal life. The head coach of the Avalanche has been married to Susan since the early 1990s. The couple built a beautiful home near Charleston, South Carolina. Originally from Huntington, West Virginia, Susan is known by his husband's name who is a renowned personality in the NHL. she works at the Charleston County Public Library, showcasing her accomplishments. Her husband Jared is a successful coach in the NHL and established himself as a strong leader of the Colorado Avalanche. Susan plays an important role in Jared's personal success. The couple have been married for many decades now and she always celebrates her husband's professional success.

The couple met during head coach Jared's time with the Huntington Blizzard in the East Coast Hockey League, they quickly developed feelings for each other and after dating for several years, they tied the knot in the 1999s. They have been a pillar of support to each other since then. Jared and his wife Susan have been blessed with two children, a son Kruz, and a daughter Savega. Their son was born in 2001 and now is 22 years old and has been engaged in hockey since his school. Kruz has graduated from Valor High School and is now focusing on his career. Savega is nearly the same age as her brother. She is a swimmer at Cherry Creek High School. Savega is focusing on her education and athletic goals. Both of their children maintain a private life while actively pursuing their individual interests.
