Jared Bednar is a Canadian former ice hockey player turned coach. He is currently serving as a head coach for the Colorado Avalanche of the National Hockey League (NHL).
Bednar started his hockey career in WHL and played junior hockey with them and progressed to the ECHL with Huntington Blizzard. He later joined the South Carolina Stingrays in the AHL and spent most of the seasons with them and retired from playing in 2002.
Bednar has achieved many milestones in his coaching career, he led the Colorado Avalanche to winning the prestigious Stanley Cup in 2022 and became the first coach to win three championships in the ECHL Kelly, AHL Calder, and NHL Stanley. Bednar signed with the Colorado Avalanche as a head coach on August 25, 2016 and is still serving them as a head coach.

Jared Bednar was born on February 28, 1972, in Yorkton, Saskatchewan, Canada, to parents Wally and Yvonne Bednar. He developed an interest in hockey during his childhood years. He grew up in Saskatchewan with his two siblings, a brother and a sister. He started his hockey career in his hometown with Saskatoon Blades and played with multiple teams there including Spokane Chiefs, Medicine Hat Tigers, and Prince Albert Raiders in WHL. Jared scored his career-high 200 points in his second season in the WHL with the Spokane Chiefs. Progressing to the Eastern Coast Hockey League, he played with the Huntington Blizzard later with the South Carolina Stingrays. During the 1999-2000 season, he contributed 214 points with the Stingrays. Jared also participated in the AHL with the St. John's Maple Leafs and Rochester's American in 1996-1997 and 1999-00 respectively.
