The Montreal Victoire is a professional women’s hockey team in the Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL). Based in Montreal, Quebec, they play their home games at Place Bell in Laval. They are one of the league's six founding teams and represent a new era in professional women’s hockey.

They were established on August 29, 2023, and star players Marie-Philip Poulin, Laura Stacey, and Ann-Renée Desbiens were among their first signees. Montreal’s debut game on January 2, 2024, against Ottawa, ended in a thrilling 3–2 overtime win. Throughout their first season, the Victoire set multiple attendance records, including a sellout crowd of 21,105 at the Bell Centre. They reached the playoffs but were eliminated by Boston in a series of tightly contested overtime games.

Kori Cheverie is a retired Canadian ice hockey player and the head coach of the Montreal Victoire in the PWHL. She also serves as an assistant coach for the Canadian national women’s hockey team and previously made history as the first woman to hold a full-time coaching role in U Sports men’s hockey with TMU Bold.

As a player, Cheverie starred with the Saint Mary’s Huskies, earning accolades as an Academic All-Canadian and team captain, and later played six seasons with the Toronto Furies in the CWHL, winning the 2014 Clarkson Cup. She holds Furies franchise records for points (82), games played (152), and power-play goals (14).

Internationally, she won gold with Team Canada at the 2009 Winter Universiade and played ball hockey with Italy at the 2015 World Championship. Cheverie began coaching in 2012, taking on roles with Hockey Nova Scotia, the Scarborough Sharks, and Ryerson University, among others. She joined Hockey Canada’s coaching staff in 2021 and became head coach of PWHL Montreal in 2023.

Montreal Victoire General Manager

According to Speakers Canada, Daniele Sauvageau is the general manager of the Montreal Victoire in the Professional Women’s Hockey League. She is renowned for coaching the Canadian Women’s Hockey Team to its historic gold medal victory at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, breaking a 50-year drought. Sauvageau has participated in six Olympic Games as a coach, GM, and consultant, contributing to seven consecutive world championship wins and the 1998 silver medal at Nagano.

Off the ice, Sauvageau has a distinguished career in law enforcement, serving over 33 years with the RCMP and Montreal police, including 10 years in narcotics. She holds degrees in social work and coaching and has consulted on elite sports performance, including Canada’s synchronized swimming and water polo teams.

Sauvageau has been widely recognized for her contributions to sport and leadership, receiving honors such as the Order of Canada, honorary doctorates, and two Jubilee Medals. She is also a media commentator, author, and executive coach.

According to PWHL, Marie-Philip Poulin, often called "Captain Clutch," is the captain of the Montreal Victoire in the Professional Women’s Hockey League. She was born on March 28, 1991, in Beauceville, Quebec. At 32, she has earned an unmatched reputation for scoring in clutch moments, including goals in three Olympic gold medal games, with two game-winners.

She has been a member of Canada’s National Team since 2007 and its captain since 2015. Poulin is a four-time Olympic medalist (three gold, one silver) and an 11-time World Championship medalist. Her collegiate career at Boston University saw her become a standout player and a Patty Kazmaier Award finalist.

Professionally, Poulin has played for teams such as the Montreal Stars, Les Canadiennes, and the PWHPA. As of the 2024-25 PWHL season, Poulin has recorded one goal in three games.
