Alanna Smith was born on September 10, 1996. She is a professional basketball player and, as of September 2024, is playing for the Minnesota Lynx as their power forward in the WNBA. She attended Stanford University and was named to the All-Pac-12 team in 2018 and 2019. In 2019, she was also named a Third-Team All-American by the USBWA, a Second-Team All-American by the Associated Press, and a WBCA Coaches' All-American. Smith was selected by the Phoenix Mercury as the eighth overall pick in the 2019 WNBA Draft. Smith also played for the Indiana Fever in 2022 and the Chicago Sky in 2023. In 2024, she won the WNBA Commissioner’s Cup with her team.

As of September 2024, she has played for the Incheon Shinhan Bank S-Birds in the Women's Korean Basketball League in 2019 and 2020, and for the Adelaide Lightning in the Women's National Basketball League in 2021 and 2022. In 2022, she was crowned the NBL1 North Champion and awarded the MVP title. Smith plays for the Opals, the Australian women's basketball team, internationally. She competed in the 2017 FIBA Women's Asia Cup in India, the 2018 FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup in Spain, where she won two silver medals, and the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, winning one bronze medal.
