She was born on 11 August 1995 in Los Angeles, California, U.S. Canada started her basketball journey at Windward School where she became league MVP and first-team All-League under Vanessa Nygaard who was a former WNBA player and coach. She also played in the McDonald's All-American Game in her senior season in high school.
