The CPKC Women's Open was originally called “La Canadienne” and has changed several names since its inception in 1973. The event changed from the Canadian Pacific Women's Open to the Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) Women’s Open in 2023. The 72-hole stroke play event is held in Canada, but the venue often varies. The 2024 event was held at the Earl Grey Golf Club in Calgary, Alberta.

For its first six years, the event was a 54-hole event, which changed to 72-holes in 1978. From 1979 on, the Canadian Women's Open became one of the then-four women's golf majors and remained so till 2000. However, it was replaced as a major by the Women's British Open in 2001. Regardless, since it was a major, it was and will be considered one of the most prestigious events on the LPGA Tour.

Who won the CPKC Women’s Open in 2024?

Lauren Coughlin defeated Chinese golfer Mao Saigo to win the 2024 CPKC Women's Open, earning her first LPGA Tour victory, after joining the LPGA Tour in 2018. At Earl Grey Golf Club, the 31-year-old American golfer finished the four-day event at 13 under after making birdies on two of her last four holes. She earned $390,000 out of a total of $2.6 million thanks to her clutch performance.

Haeran Ryu had a sizable lead into the back nine final round but was defeated by Coughlin. However, her victory was made possible by bogeys on the last three holes and a double-bogey 6 on the 11th hole. On the par-3 17th hole, Coughlin recorded a clutch birdie to take the lead, where Mao Saigo finished solo runner-up and Ryu and Jenny Shin tied for third place.
