Chiefs sign veteran CB Revis
Cornerback Darrelle Revis has signed with the Kansas City Chiefs in the NFL.
The Kansas City Chiefs signed free agent cornerback Darrelle Revis, the team announced on Wednesday.
Revis, 32, has been a free agent the entire season after he was released by the New York Jets in February.
The former New England Patriots and Jets first-team All-Pro was one of the best corners in the league for the better part of a decade before he started to lose a step in recent years.
"We're excited to add Darrelle to the roster," Chiefs coach Andy Reid said.
"He has experience and familiarity with Bob Sutton's defense, he's a team guy and we feel like a player of his calibre can help our football team."
After making Pro Football Focus' First-Team at cornerback in 2014, Revis ranked 20th in 2015 and fell to 26th in 2016.
However, Revis started his career with Chiefs defensive coordinator Bob Sutton when he was with the Jets in 2006.
Revis played two seasons under Sutton when he was the defensive coordinator and another four seasons when the 66-year-old was the team's senior defensive assistant and assistant head coach.
