Who did Jon Jones lose to?
Jon Jones

Jon Jones is one of the most celebrated professional mixed martial artists active on the professional circuit. He has had a long professional career where he fought in various promotions before joining the UFC. After storming his way into the promotion, he never looked back and is currently the No. 3-ranked male pound-for-pound fighter.

Already considered one of the greatest fighters of the current generation, Jon Jones is returning to the octagon on November 16, 2024. This time to take on another great, the former UFC heavyweight champion, Stipe Miocic. The two titans will headline UFC 309 at Madison Square Garden, where Jon Jones will put his heavyweight title on the line for the first time since winning it on March 4, 2023, at UFC 285 against Ciryl Gane.

Jon Jones' Loss

Jon Jones has lost only one fight in his professional career as of November 2024. He squared off against Matt Hamill on December 5, 2009, where he delivered a series of downward elbow strikes resulting in his disqualification in the first round of the bout. The move was considered illegal at the time of the fight due to which Jones suffered the first loss of his career.

The MMA unified rules were recently updated rules and the downward elbow strike has now been legalized. Jon Jones has expressed his wish since then that the only loss of his decorated career should be overturned to a KO win in his favor.
