Tennessee Titans Bio

The Tennessee Titans are a member team of the American Football Conference (AFC) South division and play their home games at Nissan Stadium in the National Football League (NFL). From 1960 through 1996, the team was based in Houston, Texas, and went by the name Houston Oilers. During that period, it won two American Football League (AFL) championships (1960 and 1961). When the AFL was created in 1960, the Oilers were one of the eight founding clubs. They won the inaugural AFL championship under quarterback George Blanda's guidance, and they repeated as winners the following season. The Titans had a lot of postseason success in the early 2000s when they qualified for the playoffs in all but one of the seasons from 1999 to 2003, but they only did so twice over the course of the following thirteen years. The Titans' situation started to turn around in the late 2010s, and since 2016, they have had six straight winning seasons—their longest winning streak since they were the Houston Oilers. During that period, they have also made four playoff berths.

The team relocated to Tennessee in 1997, and in 1999, the year Nissan Stadium in downtown Nashville on the east bank of the Cumberland River opened, it changed its name to the Titans.

Since then, Nashville has gained national recognition thanks to the Titans, who have established themselves as a local mainstay.

The current Tennessee Titans home stadium is the Nissan Stadium.  It is owned by the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, it is primarily used for football and is the home field of the Tennessee Titans of the National Football League (NFL) and the Tigers of Tennessee State University.

The team relocated to Vanderbilt Stadium in Nashville in 1998 as a result of low attendance.

The club played under the name Tennessee Oilers for those two seasons, but for the 1999 campaign, it adopted the Titans moniker and relocated to Adelphia Coliseum (now known as Nissan Stadium).
