She rose to fame after finishing runner-up to Naomi Osaka at the Indian Wells Open in 2018. After a few setbacks, she staged a return in 2021, winning two titles to climb back into the top 30, and another two in 2022 to reach the top 10.

After defeating Jasmine Paolini in the semifinals and Leylah Fernandez in straight sets in the final, Kasatkina won her seventh WTA singles championship at the 2024 Eastbourne International. She also made it to the final of the 2024 Charleston Open final, when she was defeated by Danielle Collins.
