Russian tennis player Daria Kasatkina was born on May 7, 1997, and is one of the top singles players in Russia. In October 2022, she achieved her career-high singles ranking of No. 8. She has won eight singles and one doubles WTA title as of December 2024. Her elder brother introduced her to tennis and she excelled as a junior, winning the junior 2014 French Open and the European 16s Championships. At the age of 18, she was No. 32 in the world and won her first WTA title at the Charleston Open in 2017.

At the Indian Wells Open in 2018, Kasatkina finished runner-up, and this helped her gain notoriety. She also won the 2020-21 Fed Cup, representing Russia. In the 2024 Ningbo Open, she defeated Mirra Andreeva in three sets to win her eighth career title and second of the year after making consecutive third-round appearances in Beijing and Wuhan. Earlier in June, she won the 2024 Eastbourne International, defeating Leylah Fernandez.
