Auston Matthews during 2025 NHL 4 Nations Face-Off - United States v Canada

The 2025 4 Nations Face-Off, featuring only NHL players, will be held from February 12–20, 2025. Teams from Canada, Finland, Sweden, and the United States will play in a round-robin format, with the top two teams meeting in the final. This tournament replaces the NHL All-Star Game for 2025.

The event was announced at the 2024 NHL All-Star Game by Commissioner Gary Bettman, who also confirmed future NHL participation in the 2026 Winter Olympics and upcoming World Cups of Hockey. Russia was excluded due to its ban from international competition, and Czechia did not participate due to limited time for planning.

4 Nation Face-Off USA schedule

USA Hockey started their 4 Nation Face-Off campaign on February 13, beating Finland 6-1 in Montreal at the Bell Centre. On February 15, the USA faced Canada in Montreal at the Bell Centre, winning 3-1.

On February 17, the USA played Sweden in Boston at TD Garden, losing 2-1, broadcasted on TNT. The final game between the USA and Canada will be held on February 20 in Boston at TD Garden at 8:00 p.m.

4 Nation Face-Off USA Captain

According to USA Hockey, Auston Matthews has been named captain of Team USA for the 4 Nations Face-Off. Matthew Tkachuk and Charlie McAvoy will serve as alternate captains. Matthews, captain of the Toronto Maple Leafs, has won gold at the 2014 and 2015 IIHF Under-18 World Championships. The 4 Nations Face-Off final game will take place on February 20, between USA and Canada.
