Aleksander Barkov is a Finnish professional ice hockey center and captain of the Florida Panthers. He was drafted second overall by the Panthers in 2013. Barkov had a breakout season in 2015-16 with 59 points and helped Florida win the Atlantic Division. In 2017-18, he scored 78 points and was an All-Star and Lady Byng finalist. Named captain in 2018, he recorded his first hat trick and a five-assist game in 2019, then won the Lady Byng Trophy.
Barkov signed a six-year contract in 2021 and won the Selke Trophy three times by 2024 as the NHL’s best defensive forward.
