Alexander Mikhailovich Ovechkin is a Russian ice hockey player who is the captain of the Washington Capitals in the NHL, as of 2025. He was born on September 17, 1985, and is one of the greatest goal-scorers in hockey history. Ovechkin was drafted by the Capitals in 2004 and has played his entire 18-season NHL career with the team. In his rookie season, he scored 52 goals and 54 assists and won the Calder Memorial Trophy as Rookie of the Year.

Ovechkin has won the Art Ross Trophy for most points and the Lindsay Award three times. He has been selected for the NHL All-Star Game thirteen times, including a record six straight appearances from 2015 to 2020. In 2018, he helped the Capitals win their first Stanley Cup and earned the Conn Smythe Trophy as the best player in the playoffs.

Ovechkin moved out in 2012 after buying a mansion in McLean, Virginia, for $4.28 million. He now rents out the Arlington house for $9,000 a month through a property management company.
