The Carolina Hurricanes are an NHL team based in Raleigh, North Carolina, and play home games at the Lenovo Center. They are part of the Metropolitan Division in the Eastern Conference. The franchise began in 1971 as the New England Whalers in the WHA. They won the 1972–73 Avco World Trophy and reached the finals again in 1978. In 1979, the team joined the NHL as the Hartford Whalers after the NHL–WHA merger. They moved to North Carolina in 1997 and became the Hurricanes.

Carolina reached the Stanley Cup Finals in 2002 but lost to the Detroit Red Wings. They won the Stanley Cup in 2006 by defeating the Edmonton Oilers. As of the 2024–25 season, it remains North Carolina’s only major professional sports championship.

Carolina Hurricanes Playoff Schedule

The 2024–25 season is the Carolina Hurricanes' 46th NHL season (45th of play) and their 27th since relocating from Hartford in 1997. On April 2, 2025, they secured their seventh straight playoff appearance with a regulation win over the Capitals, as per Hockey Reference.

Carolina finished second in the Metropolitan Division with a 47–30–5 record, 42 regulation wins, and 99 points. They scored 266 goals and allowed 230, for a +36 goal differential, as per Hockey Reference.

Carolina Hurricanes Conference Finals

The Carolina Hurricanes will face the Florida Panthers in the 2025 Eastern Conference Final. The NHL announced the full schedule for the third round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, with Game 1 set for Tuesday, May 20, at 8 p.m. at Lenovo Center in Raleigh. This is a rematch of the 2023 Conference Final, where Florida swept Carolina in four games.

Before the series begins, the Hurricanes will hold a media session on Monday, May 19, at Lenovo Center after their 11 a.m. practice. General Manager Eric Tulsky, Head Coach Rod Brind’Amour, and many players will speak to the media, as per their official website.

All games in the series will start at 8 p.m. and will be broadcast on TNT, truTV, Max, SN, CBC, and TVAS. Games 1, 2, 5*, and 7* will be played in Raleigh, while Games 3, 4, and 6* will take place at Amerant Bank Arena in Florida.

Carolina Hurricanes Round 2

In Round 2 of the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs, the Carolina Hurricanes played the Washington Capitals. Carolina won Game 1 in overtime, 2–1, but lost Game 2 by a score of 3–1.

Carolina Hurricanes Regular Season 2024-25 Schedule

The Carolina Hurricanes opened the 2024-25 NHL season on October 11, starting 0-1-0 but quickly finding momentum on a western road trip.
