Matt has been a highly successful high school baseball coach, spending 13 years at Orchard Lake St. Mary's, where he led the team to multiple state championships. Under his leadership, the team won four state titles, including one in Division 1 in 2022 and three in Division 2 (2015, 2019, and 2021). He also directed the school’s admissions department. Matt's tenure as a coach was marked by an impressive 84-game winning streak that nearly tied the national record.

Unfortunately, Matt Petry was fired as the baseball coach at Orchard Lake St. Mary's for violating the school's employee conduct policy in 2023 as per The Detroit News.

Julie Petry is the wife of Jeff Petry. Originally from Houston, Texas, Julie moved to Michigan to play field hockey at Michigan State University, where she met Jeff. Their journey took them from Michigan to Edmonton, Alberta, and back, with their family settling in Michigan for off-season training. In addition to supporting her husband's NHL career, Julie has launched a clothing line called Line Change, offering stylish fanwear for women as per Birmingham and Bloomfield Hills
