Leon Draisaitl is a German center and alternate captain for the Edmonton Oilers in the National Hockey League (NHL). He started his professional career with the Prince Albert Raiders in the Western Hockey League (WHL) in 2012 before being selected by the Oilers as the third overall pick in the 2014 NHL draft. During his rookie season in 2014-15, Draisaitl played in 37 games before being assigned to the Kelowna Rockets in the WHL.
Draisaitl, who helped the Kelowna Rockets win the 2015 WHL championship, played a crucial role in the Edmonton Oilers' return to the Stanley Cup playoffs for the first time since 2006 in the 2016-17 season. Draisaitl led the NHL with 11 points in the 2019-20 season. The five-time NHL All-Star has won each of the Art Ross Trophy, Hart Memorial Trophy, and Ted Lindsay Award once, as of April 2025.
