Mitchell Marner is the alternate captain for the Toronto Maple Leafs, drafted fourth overall in 2015. He made the NHL All-Rookie team in 2016–17 with 61 points, with a breakout season in 2018–19 posting 94 points. He set a Leafs record 23-game point streak in 2022 and reached 500 career points in January 2023. He finished the 2022–23 season with a career-high 99 points and earned a Selke Trophy nomination for his defensive play.

Before the NHL, Marner starred with the London Knights, winning the Memorial Cup and CHL Player of the Year in 2016. Internationally, he won gold at the 2014 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup and played in the 2016 World Juniors. In 2024, he scored the overtime winner for Canada against Sweden at the 4 Nations Face-Off and reached 100 NHL points in a season for the first time on April 15, 2025.
