The New York Islanders is a professional ice hockey team based in Emont, New York. They compete in the NHL under the Metropolitan Division of the Eastern Conference. Malkin and Jon Ledecky purchased the New York Islanders from Charles Wang. They acquired the rights of the team for $485M from Wang, who retained a share of the franchise. Initially, they served as minority partners before formally announcing their control at the end of the 2015-1016 season.
