Patrik Laine is a Finnish right winger for the Montreal Canadiens in the NHL. He was drafted second overall by the Winnipeg Jets in 2016. Laine signed a three-year entry-level contract with Winnipeg and debuted on October 13, 2016, scoring a goal and an assist. He recorded his first NHL hat trick on October 19, 2016, against Toronto. In his rookie season, he scored 36 goals and 64 points, breaking the Jets/Thrashers rookie goal record.
He signed a two-year, $13.5 million extension with the Jets in September 2019. Laine was traded to Columbus on January 23, 2021, where he later signed a four-year, $34.8 million contract in July 2022. On August 19, 2024, Laine was traded to Montreal. He chose jersey number 92.
