Skinner’s career began in the Alberta Major Bantam Hockey League with Edmonton’s South Side Athletic Club. He progressed to play major junior hockey in the Western Hockey League, first with the Lethbridge Hurricanes, where he created franchise history by scoring an empty-net goal. Following this, Skinner was selected as the 78th overall (third round) pick by the Edmonton Oilers in the 2017 NHL entry draft.
