Born in Sewell, New Jersey, DeAngelo started playing minor hockey locally before joining the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders at 14, where he became the youngest player in the United States Hockey League.

DeAngelo had an impressive junior career, especially with the Sarnia Sting and the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds in the OHL, where he won major awards. Drafted 19th overall by the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2014, he played for several NHL teams before his career took a turn with multiple buyouts. After his time with the Flyers ended in 2023, he joined SKA Saint Petersburg in the KHL.
