She received honors like being McDonald’s All-American in 2016 and subsequently the Big 12 Sixth Player of the Year in college. Carrington was also named to the All-Pac-12 team in 2019 after a standout season at Stanford University where she played from 2016 to 2020. After this, she spent her final year of college at Baylor University and was finally drafted into the WNBA in 2021, with the 20th overall pick of the second round by the Connecticut Sun.
