The 6-foot-5 center, Nyara Sabally plays for the New York Liberty in the WNBA. She was drafted as the fifth overall pick by the New York Liberty in the 2022 WNBA Draft. She missed her first year due to a right knee injury and returned in the 2022 season. She displayed a consistent performance in her rookie season (2023) which resulted in increased playing time in the 2024 season. She averaged 13.5 minutes per game and 4.9 points, 4.0 rebounds, 0.9 steals and 0.7 blocks per game in the 2024 season and established herself in the Liberty’s rotations.

Nyara Sabally played college basketball for the Oregon Ducks alongside her sister Satou Sabally. The sister duo won one Pac 12 regular season championship and a Pac 12 conference tournament championship in 2020. She averaged 13.9 points, 7.4 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.2 steals and 1.3 blocks in her college career.

Nyara Sabally was born to Jerreh Sabally and Heike Krone on February 26, 2000, and holds German citizenship. She has represented the German women's basketball team at every level from youth tournaments to the Olympics.

Sabally first represented Germany at the U16 European Championship Division-A and played in nine games averaging 9.0 points, 13.2 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game. She then represented Germany at the FIBA U18 Women's European Championship in 2018. A stellar performance by Sabally led the Germans to the championship and she was named the MVP.

Sabally’s senior team debut came several years later in 2024 as she played in the FIBA Women's Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Brazil. After helping Germany qualify for the Paris Olympics, Sabally featured in the Olympics tournament and led the Germans to a crucial win against the arch-rivals Belgium. However, Germany faced France and lost 71-84 in the quarter-finals.
