Christopher Matthew Jent is a renowned figure in the basketball circles. Now a respected coach, Jent first made his mark as a talented player at Ohio State University from 1988 through 1992. Time and again, thanks to Jent's efforts on the hardwood, the Buckeyes earned their way into the highly competitive NCAA Tournament. Following his collegiate career, Jent took his game to the professional level. Over the years, he performed for multiple franchises in the NBA as well as in Europe, where he played in Italy among other places, before coming back to the USA. It was with the Houston Rockets that Jent reached the pinnacle of his playing days, securing an NBA championship ring in 1994.

After his playing days were over, Jent went on to coach. He has been an assistant coach with several NBA teams—the Philadelphia 76ers, Orlando Magic, and the Sacramento Kings, to mention a few. As of August 2024, Jent serves as an assistant coach with the Charlotte Hornets, returning to use his gained experience and skills in management.

Chris Jent was a college player at Ohio State University where he featured in 123 games and demonstrated a lot of passion towards basketball. He averaged 8.2 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game, and a field goal percentage of 43.4% and three-point shooting of 38.2%. His free throw shooting was at 74.3% which demonstrated his reliability at the line.

Jent’s ability to contribute both offensively and defensively made him invaluable for the Buckeyes. He was also well disciplined and a good leader and this was evident when he led Ohio State to the NCAA tournament multiple times. His senior year was particularly outstanding as he averaged 12.6 points and 5.3 rebounds per game. Jent’s college stats are consistent with his all-around abilities and his contribution to the team, which has earned him a place in Ohio State basketball history.
