The Former American basketball player Nate Tibbetts is currently the head coach of the Phoenix Mercury in the WNBA. He was born in 1976 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, USA. Tibbetts began his basketball career at Roosevelt High School before playing for the South Dakota Coyotes men's basketball team. After graduating from the University of South Dakota, Tibbetts started his coaching career.
Tibbetts's first position was as an assistant coach for the Sioux Falls Cougars basketball team. In 2005, Tibbetts was appointed assistant coach for the Sioux Falls Skyforce, the NBA G League team affiliated with the Miami Heat. In 2009, he got a major break and became the head coach of the Tulsa 66ers. Over his two seasons with the Tulsa 66ers, he compiled a record of 64-41 and led the team to the playoffs back-to-back years. After coaching the G League, Tibbetts was promoted to NBA teams and appointed as assistant coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers. From there he did an assistant coaching job for two more NBA teams Portland Trailblazer and Orlando Magic. Tibbetts became head of the Phoenix Mercury in 2024.
