The Dallas Stars strated as the Minnesota North Stars in the year 1967 and completed in the West Division until the 1974-75 season. Soonafter, they merged with the Cleveland Barons and assumed play in the Adams division. However, low attendence and declining revenue led the team to shift to Dallas as their base. They also adopted their present name around the same time and have been using is eversince.
Since relocating to Dallas, the team has played 30 seasons out of which they have made the playoffs in 19 occasions. Notably, they won their first and only Stanley Cup in 1998-99 and have added six divison championships and two conference championships to their collection. Interestingly, they also had two divisons championships and a sole conference championship triumph as the Minnesota North Stars.
