Moving Forward, the Oilers played their first game on October 12, 2016, against the Calgary Flames, before which a pre-game ceremony was held to honor Wayne Gretzky and Mark Messier. Notably, a statue of Gretzky was unveilded outside the arena that same day. Later during the game, Patrick Maroon became the first person to score a goal in the arena.
