Matthew Tkachuk is an ice hockey winger for the Florida Panthers as of 2025. He was ranked the second-best North American skater before the 2016 NHL Draft. The Calgary Flames selected him sixth overall. In his rookie season, he scored 13 goals and 48 points in 76 games. In his second season, he had 24 goals and 49 points in 68 games. Before the 2018–19 season, he was named an alternate captain for the Flames and became the first player from his draft class to reach 100 career assists.

In 2022, Tkachuk was traded to the Florida Panthers for Jonathan Huberdeau, Cole Schwindt, MacKenzie Weegar, and a lottery-protected 2025 first-round pick. After the trade, he signed an eight-year, $76 million contract with the Panthers. In his first season with Florida, he scored 109 points and was a Hart Trophy finalist. He helped the Panthers reach the 2023 Stanley Cup Final and won the Stanley Cup with them in 2024.

Matthew Tkachuk's brother is Brady Tkachuk. He was also born in Scottsdale and raised in St. Louis. Brady played in the USA Hockey National Development Program and one season at Boston University (2017–18). He was drafted 4th overall by the Ottawa Senators in 2018 and became captain in 2021. He married Emma Farinacci in July 2023, and their son Ryder was born in September 2024, as per US Weekly.

Brady is the captain of the Ottawa Senators as of 2025. They are the sons of former NHL player Keith Tkachuk. In February 2025, both brothers represented the USA at the 4 Nations Face-Off tournament. They played on the same line with Jack Eichel and combined for four goals in a 6–1 win over Finland. They both fought Canadian players early in a 3–1 USA win over Canada. This was the first time they played together on the same national team in a major tournament. Their parents are Keith and Chantal Tkachuk, and their sister is Taryn Tkachuk, as per the official website of the NHL.
