Ilya Alexeyevich Samsonov, born on 22 February 1997, is a Russian professional ice hockey goaltender currently playing for the Toronto Maple Leafs in the National Hockey League (NHL). Hailing from Magnitogorsk, Russia, Samsonov made his debut in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) during the 2014–15 season, playing in relief for Metallurg Magnitogorsk.

His impressive junior season with Metallurg's Junior club, Stalnye Lisy, led to him being ranked as the top European Goalie in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. Despite missing the scouting combine and conducting no interviews with the Washington Capitals, he was selected 22nd overall. After the draft, Samsonov returned to the KHL, showcasing a strong performance with a 6–4–3 record, a 2.04 goals-against average, and a .925 save percentage in 19 games. In the 2017–18 KHL season, he signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Capitals, starting his NHL journey. While initially assigned to the Hershey Bears, the Capitals' AHL affiliate, he eventually made his NHL debut in the 2019–20 season, achieving notable success by winning 11 consecutive contests, becoming only the third NHL rookie goalie to achieve such a feat since 1973–74.
