Matvei Michkov is a Russian professional ice hockey forward for the Philadelphia Flyers in the NHL. He began his professional career in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) with SKA Saint Petersburg in 2021 and played with them and their affiliates until 2022. Michkov was drafted seventh overall by the Flyers in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft.

From a young age, Michkov broke scoring records across various age divisions. He recorded an impressive 109 points in 26 games in the Russian U-16 league and had 56 points in 56 games in the U-20 division, surpassing the previous record held by Nikita Kucherov. In 2020, he moved from Lokomotiv Yaroslavl's youth program to SKA Saint Petersburg, where he played the 2020–21 season with SKA-1946 and SKA Varyagi in the Youth Hockey League (MHL), scoring 56 points in 56 games and leading the league with 38 goals.

Romain Rotenberg, the coach of SKA St. Petersburg, described Andrei as a wonderful person and an excellent father, offering support to Matvei during this difficult time.

Matvei Michkov's mother, Maria, and his brother, Prohor, moved to North America to support him as he adjusts to life with the Philadelphia Flyers. They are currently living together, along with Egor Zamula, a teammate and countryman who is waiting for his apartment to be ready.
