Mitch Marner is a Canadian right winger and alternate captain for the Toronto Maple Leafs in the National Hockey League (NHL). He trained at 3 Zones Hockey School and played for the Vaughan Kings, winning a Greater Toronto Hockey League (GTHL) title in 2011-12. He had 86 points with the Don Mills Flyers in 2012–13 and later won a title with the St. Michael's Buzzers. He declined a University of Michigan scholarship to join the London Knights in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL).
Marner became one of Ontario's top minor hockey players but fell to 19th in the 2013 OHL draft due to concerns about his size. Marner finished second in OHL scoring in 2014-15 with 126 points and was drafted fourth overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 2015 draft. Marner, who wore the number 93 jersey in honor of his brother Chris Marner, led the London Knights to an OHL championship and a Memorial Cup title in 2016, winning the Wayne Gretzky 99 Award.
