Paul Maurice is a Canadian professional ice hockey coach in the National Hockey League (NHL) who currently serves as the head coach of the Florida Panthers in the league. Notably, Maurice became the youngest coach in NHL history to coach 1,000 games at the age of 43 (on November 28, 2010). Unfortunately, he holds the record for the most losses by an NHL coach with 713 losses till date.

Prior to this, Maurice started as defenceman in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) with Windsor Compuware Spitfires ( presently the Windsor Spitfires), where he stayed for four years before an eye-injury ended his career abruptly. This kickstarted his coaching journey with the Hardford Whalers/Carolina Hurricanes in 1995, before joining the Toronto Maple Leafs and again returning to the Hurricanes for a second stint. Moving on, he had a brief coaching stint in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) with Metallurg Magnitogorsk before joining the Winnipeg Jets on a eight-year stint. He finally joined the Florida Panthers in June 2022 after resigning from his role in December 2021. Remarkably, he led the Panthers to Stanley Cup finals in his first season in charge.
