Richard Tocchet is a former Canadian ice hockey player and as of November 2024 head coach of the Vancouver Canucks in the NHL. He was drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers in the sixth round of the 1983 NHL Entry Draft. Tocchet had a successful playing career, winning a Stanley Cup with the Pittsburgh Penguins in 1992. Over two decades, he played for several teams, including the Los Angeles Kings, Boston Bruins, Washington Capitals, and Phoenix Coyotes, making multiple All-Star appearances. In 2021, he was inducted into the Philadelphia Flyers Hall of Fame for his contributions to the team.

After retiring in 2002, Tocchet transitioned into coaching. He started as an assistant coach with the Colorado Avalanche in the 2002-2003 season and later became an assistant coach for the Phoenix Coyotes. He was promoted to head coach of the Coyotes in 2005. Tocchet also served as head coach of the Tampa Bay Lightning and Arizona Coyotes before becoming the head coach of the Vancouver Canucks in 2023.
