Sebastian Aho is a Finnish professional ice hockey player and an alternate captain for the Carolina Hurricanes. He was selected 35th overall in the 2015 NHL Draft by Carolina and signed a three-year entry-level contract in June 2016. Aho made his NHL debut in October 2016 and scored his first two goals in November. He recorded his first career hat trick in January 2017, becoming the youngest player in Hurricanes/Whalers history to do so.
In the 2018–19 season, Aho set a franchise record with a 12-game season-opening point streak and earned his first NHL All-Star selection. He led the Hurricanes in scoring during their first playoff appearance in 10 years. In July 2019, he signed a five-year, $42.27 million contract after the Hurricanes matched an offer sheet from the Montreal Canadiens. On July 26, 2023, Aho signed an eight-year, $78 million extension with the Hurricanes, which begins in the 2024–25 season and runs through 2031–32.
