Taylor Hall is a Canadian professional ice hockey left winger currently playing with the Chicago Blackhawks in the National Hockey League. Born on November 14, 1991, he was drafted by the Edmonton Oilers as the first overall pick of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.


Hall belongs to a sport-loving family, he was born in Calgary to parents Steve Hall and Kim Strba. Steve and Strba introduced Hall to hockey at the age of five. He nurtured his skills in the backyard rinks with his father. Hall played hockey in Calgary with North East Canucks where he won the Bantam AAA Calgary city championship during the 2004-05 season.


He joined the Ontario Hockey League with the Windsor Spitfires in the 2007-2008 season and contributed to the team to claim the Memorial Cup in 2009 and 2010. Hall was awarded the Stafford Smythe Memorial twice for being the most valuable player in the Memorial Cup Tournament. He has had an impressive career till now.

Taylor Hall’s journey in the NHL has been incredible. He signed his entry-level three-year contract with the Edmonton Oilers for $11,250,000 with a cap hit of $900,000. His contract was the most lucrative as a rookie. With the Oilers, Hall used to wear the jersey #4 which was worn by legend Kevin Lowe. In his rookie season, Hall earned a spot in the NHL All-Star Game and scored his first hat trick against the Atlanta Thrashers on February 9, 2011, and his first Gordie Howe hat trick in March 2011.


He has played with various teams in the NHL throughout his career including Edmonton Oilers, New Jersey Devils, Arizona Coyotes, Buffalo Sabres, and Boston Bruins. In 2016, he joined the New Jersey Devils and made his impact felt there, earning a place in the NHL All-Star Game and leading the Devils to playoffs in the 2017-2018 season. In his second season with the New Jersey Devils in 2018, Hall won the Hart Memorial Trophy as the most valuable player of the NHL. With this feat, Hall became the first ever player from the Devils to receive this prestigious award. He has been named to the five NHL All-Star Games till now.


He was traded to the Arizona Coyotes on December 16, 2019, and after playing there for one season, he joined the Buffalo Sabres on October 11, 2020. Hall was again traded, this time to the Boston Bruins where he had a successful year and finished the season 2021-2022 with 20 goals, 41 assists, and 61 points. On June 26, 2023, Hall joined the Chicago Blackhawks and is currently playing with them.
