
The Winnipeg Jets are a professional NHL team based in Winnipeg. They play in the Central Division of the Western Conference. They are owned by True North Sports & Entertainment and play home games at Canada Life Centre.
The franchise originally began as the Atlanta Thrashers, founded on June 25, 1997, and started NHL play in the 1999–2000 season. In May 2011, True North Sports & Entertainment purchased the team and relocated it to Winnipeg for the 2011–12 season. This was the first NHL relocation since the Hartford Whalers became the Carolina Hurricanes in 1997.

In the 2017–18 season, they played in the Western Conference and advanced past Minnesota and Nashville before losing to Vegas in the Conference Finals. Winnipeg Jets Division History
The Winnipeg Jets' division history began as the Atlanta Thrashers in the Southeast Division of the Eastern Conference from their debut in 1999 until the franchise relocated to Winnipeg in 2011. After the relocation, the Jets continued in the Southeast Division for the 2011–12 and 2012–13 seasons. In 2013, the team moved to the Central Division of the Western Conference. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Jets played in the temporary North Division for the 2020–21 season, which was made up of only Canadian teams. Since then, they have returned to the Central Division, where they remain today.
