About
The Davis Cup is an international team tournament in men’s tennis which is organised by the International Tennis Federation. It is contested between countries in a knockout format.
The first edition of the Davis Cup took place in 1900 and the competition has been held in most years since then. The United States have won the tournament more than any other country, being triumphant on 32 occasions. Australia have won it 24 times while France and Great Britain have been the champions ten times each.
In recent times, Spain have been quite successful in the competition, winning it six times in the 21st century.
The 2022 Davis Cup will be the 110th edition of the tournament and will be contested by 28 nations. Russia are the reigning champions, having won last year after beating Croatia in the final. Both countries are already through to this year’s Finals and have been joined by Serbia and Great Britain who received wildcards.
Davis Cup 2022 Format
Last year’s champions Russia and runners-up Croatia are already through to the Davis Cup 2022 Finals and they have been joined by Great Britain and Serbia, both of whom received wildcards for the tournament.
24 teams are competing in the Davis Cup qualifiers and will be drawn into 12 playoff ties with each tie consisting of a maximum of five matches. The 12 playoff winners join Russia, Croatia, Great Britain and Serbia in the finals.
16 teams will compete in the Davis Cup 2022 Finals. They will be drawn into four groups of four teams each. The winners and runners-up of each group will reach the quarterfinals.
Davis Cup 2022 Qualifiers
24 teams are competing in the Davis Cup 2022 qualifiers and will be drawn into 12 playoff ties. The 12 winners go through to the Davis Cup 2022 Finals while the 12 losers will play in the Davis Cup 2022 World Group 1.

Davis Cup 2022 Finals Venues and Dates
The Group stages of the Davis Cup 2022 Finals take place from 14-18 September, 2022 and the knockout stages take place from 23-27 November, 2022. The venues for the Finals are yet to be decided.
