Brett Kulak is a professional ice hockey defenseman, playing for the Edmonton Oilers as of 2025. He is from Stony Plain, Alberta, where he played with the Stony Plain and Spruce Grove Minor Hockey Association. Kulak later played for the Vancouver Giants in the Western Hockey League (WHL) before signing a three-year entry-level contract with Calgary in 2014. He had already been selected as the 105th overall pick by the Calgary Flames while with the Giants in 2012.

Kulak made his NHL debut in April 2015 and became a regular in the 2017-18 season. However, he was traded to the Montreal Canadiens the following season in exchange for Matt Taormina and Rinat Valiev. His tenure with the Canadiens kicked off in the American Hockey League (AHL), where he played with their affiliate, the Laval Rocket, before an injury to defenceman Noah Juulsen opened a spot for Kulak in the line-up. He scored his first game-winning goal in a 3-0 victory over the Colorado Avalanche in January 2019. He joined the Oilers in 2022 after signing a four-year deal with them.
