Liudmila Samsonova is a Russian tennis player competing in the WTA singles and doubles circuit as of March 2025. She has been ranked as high as No. 12 in singles and No. 40 in doubles, which she achieved in February 2023 and June 2023, respectively. Samsonova's best Grand Slam performances in singles and doubles include reaching the fourth round of the 2024 US Open and the quarterfinals of the 2023 French Open, respectively. In the 2021 Billie Jean King Cup, she won the Most Valuable Player award after helping Russia win the tournament.

Along with her aggressive playing style, the Russian tennis star's coaching staff, which includes her boyfriend Alessandro Dumitrache, have helped her win five titles in singles and two WTA doubles titles as of March 2025.

Who is Liudmila Samsonova's coach?

As per reports, Danilo Pizzorno is the long-time coach of Liudmila Samsonova. The duo has been working together for more than seven years. With the guidance of Pizzorno, Samsonova finished as the finalist in two WTA 1000 tournaments while also securing a career-high singles ranking of No. 12. In an interview with the WTA Insider in 2022, she shared,

"I think [Danilo] is a genius, a tactical genius. Seriously. It's not because he's working with me. I think in the WTA there is no one with the experience and the level of coaching as him. It was five years ago when I started working with him. I was working with him at the Piatti Academy and then when I split with Piatti, I contacted him and we started working again. All the technical, the shots, my forehand, my backhand, my serves, it's because of him. He built me."

As of March 2025, Pizzorno is the director of the Video Analysis Center at the Circolo della Stampa Sporting in Turin, Italy (via sporting.to.it). According to reports, he worked as a video analyst for the former tennis player Ivan Ljubicic when the Croatian player was ranked No. 51 in the ATP singles rankings. From 2005 to 2018, Pizzorno worked at the Piatti Tennis Academy as a video analyst, and before that (from 2009 to 2011), he was part of the Federal Technical Center of Tirrenia as a video analyst. He has also worked as a consultant for Tennis Club Milano, analyzing the games of professional tennis players.

Besides Pizzorno, Liudmila Samsonova's coaching team includes her boyfriend (as of March 2025), Alessandro Dumitrache, as per both Samsonova's and Dumitrache's Instagram accounts. The 32-year-old is a former professional tennis player who switched to tennis coaching. Dumitrache is the brand ambassador of the sports brand Asics Tennis (via Dumitrache's Instagram account). Apart from Pizzorno and Dumitrache, Samsonova has also trained with Alessandro Piccari according to her player bio on WTA's official website.
