Holger Rune is a professional tennis player from Denmark, who is ranked No. 12 in the world as of March 2025. He achieved his career-high singles ranking of No. 4, in August 2023, which makes him the highest-ranked male Danish player in the history of the ATP rankings. Rune has won four ATP titles till date, including winning the prestigious Paris Masters in 2022. His best Grand Slam performance came at the 2022 French Open, where he reached the quarterfinals. He also reached the quarterfinals at the 2023 Wimbledon and the 2023 French Open.

Rune registered his 100th win at the 2024 Open Sud de France, defeating Pablo Llamas Ruiz in round 16. With the win, he became the second Danish player in the Open Era after Kenneth Carlsen to achieve such a milestone. He reached the semifinal of the Open Sud de France title, where he lost to Borna Coric. He also reached the semifinals of the 2024 Mexican Open, where he lost to Casper Ruud.

At the 2024 Monte Carlo Masters, Rune lost to Jannik Sinner in the quarterfinal. He defeated Grigor Dimitrov in the previous round after playing his longest best-of-three match in tournament history. Rune started the season on a high note by reaching the final of the 2025 Indian Wells Open by overpowering top seed Daniil Medvedev in the semifinal, Stefanos Tsitsipas, and Tallon Griekspoor. However, he lost to Jack Draper in the final by 6-2, 6-2.
