Bradley Kevin Marchand, born on May 11, 1988, is a Canadian professional ice hockey left winger and the captain of the Boston Bruins in the National Hockey League (NHL). The Bruins selected Marchand in the third round, 71st overall, in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. Raised in Hammonds Plains, Nova Scotia, by local hockey coaches, Marchand played for various junior ice hockey teams between 2004 and 2008. The Bruins scouted him during this time, ensuring his draft in 2006. After a season with the Providence Bruins in the AHL, Marchand made his NHL debut in October 2009. He played a crucial role in the Bruins' 2011 Stanley Cup win.

Despite challenges in subsequent seasons, Marchand evolved into a high-scoring player with a reputation as a pest. The 2017–18 season brought fines and suspensions, prompting Marchand to focus on character improvement, leading to a remarkable 2018–19 season with 100 points. However, his disciplinary issues persisted in the 2021–22 season, making him the most suspended player in NHL history in terms of individual suspensions.
