Bruce James Cassidy is a Canadian ice hockey coach and former player. Drafted 18th overall by the Chicago Blackhawks in 1983, he had a playing career limited by injuries before transitioning into coaching. Cassidy gained recognition for his success with teams like the Grand Rapids Griffins in the AHL and later in the NHL with the Boston Bruins, leading them to the Stanley Cup Finals in 2019. He currently serves as head coach of the Vegas Golden Knights, winning the Stanley Cup with them in 2023.

Bruce Cassidy was also a defenseman who played for the Ottawa 67’s in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) from 1982 to 1985. He was drafted 18th overall by the Chicago Black Hawks in the 1983 NHL Entry Draft. Cassidy’s best OHL season was in 1982–83, when he tallied 111 points, helping the team win the Memorial Cup in 1984. His NHL debut came in 1984, but frequent knee injuries limited his playing career. Cassidy spent much of his time in the minors, appearing in only 36 NHL games and scoring 17 points. He retired mid-season in 1996–97 to begin his coaching career.
