John Tortorella is the head coach of the Philadelphia Flyers in the NHL, as of January 2025. He previously coached the Columbus Blue Jackets, New York Rangers, Tampa Bay Lightning, and Vancouver Canucks, leading Tampa Bay to the 2004 Stanley Cup championship. Tortorella is the first American-born NHL coach to achieve 500 wins and ranks ninth all-time with 742 wins as of the 2023–24 season. He has also won the Jack Adams Award twice as the NHL's top coach.

Tortorella served as an assistant coach for the U.S. men's national ice hockey team in 2008–09, leading the team to a sixth-place finish at the 2008 IIHF World Championship. He later coached Team USA at the 2016 World Cup of Hockey, where the team failed to advance past the group stage, losing all three games.

Tortorella has contributed to USA Hockey and held leadership roles in the American Hockey Coaches Association. His coaching career began at the high school level in Maine, where he earned State Coach of the Year honors twice. A former standout goalie at the University of Maine, Tortorella holds a master's certificate from USA Hockey.
