Zeev Buium, born on December 7, 2005, is an emerging star in the American college ice hockey scene and is also considered as one of the top prospects available for the 2024 NHL Entry Draft.

At present, he is playing for the University of Denver Pioneers men's ice hockey team and has also represented the United States at the 2023 IIHF World U18 where he recorded one goal and five assists in seven, achieving the gold medal. He further showcased his impressive skills with the United States men's national junior ice hockey team where he contributed to the 2024 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships.

Where did Zeev Buium go to college?

Zeev Buium is presently associated with University of Denver, where he plays for the Denver Pioneers. Notably, he began his journey with them during the 2023–24 season and immediately made his impact felt as he was at the time the second-youngest player on the sheet. He was also considered as one of the most promising young talents in NCAA Division I hockey at the same time and later proved the critics right with his performances.

In November 2023, Zeev was named as the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) Player of the Month and the HCA National Co-Player of the Month. These honors were received due to him leading all NCHC players in points, points-per-game, assists, and/or minus rating during the month. The following month, he was named as the NCHC Rookie of the Month for his performances which saw him break a record for the longest point streak by a freshman defenseman in over 20 years. Buium shone out throughout the season, finishing as the second-highest scorer on the Denver Pioneers team and also became the first freshman defenseman since 2002-03 to hit a 50-point season.

Buium also played a crucial role in leading the Denver Pioneers to victory in the NCAA National Championship in 2024. His outstanding performance throughout the season has established him as one of the most promising young defensemen in college hockey. His achievements include being named to the All-NCHC First Team and the NCHC All-Rookie Team while earning titles like NCHC Rookie of the Year and NCHC Offensive Defenseman of the Year for the 2023-24 season.

Zeev Buium’s High School

Prior to University of Denver, Buium spent the first two years of high school at Shattuck-St. Mary’s prep in Faribault, Minnesota. While there, (at Shattuck-St. Mary’s) Buium contributed 49 points over 99 games, including an impressive 33 points in the 2020-21 season alone. Notably, he built his strong foundation there and repeated the success formula at University of Denver.
