Kiah Stokes is a professional WNBA player for the Las Vegas Aces as of September 2024. She is a 2-time WNBA champion and won both of her titles with the Las Vegas Aces in 2022 and 2023. Her father, Greg Stokes is a former NBA player, who played for the Philadelphia 76ers and also won a gold medal in the 1983 WSA Pan American Games. She showed athletic potential very early in her life when her father noticed that she bested kids older than her in a 60-yard dash and beat others by 20 yards.

Stokes was drafted with the 11th overall pick in the 2015 WNBA Draft by the New York Liberty, where she remained with the team till 2021, before transferring to the Las Vegas Aces. She also won a WNBA All-Rookie Team nomination in 2015 and also made it to the All-Defensive Second Team the same year. She won the Commissioner’s Cup in 2022 with the Las Vegas Aces and is also a 2-time EuroLeague Champion in 2023 and 2024 and won the Turkish Super League 4 times (2019, 2021, 2022, and 2023).

Kiah Stokes played for the University of Connecticut from 2011 to 2015. During her stay at UConn, she achieved a lot and was very consistent in her performance. During her freshman year, Stokes featured in 34 games while scoring an average of 4.4 points and 4.5 rebounds per game. She was able to quickly set herself up as a defensive player, averaging 1.3 blocks per game. Stokes continued to show progress in her sophomore year where she featured in 31 games. She averaged 2.8 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks per game. She was a great defender and her defensive prowess was instrumental in getting UConn to the Final Four.

In the junior year, Stokes’ contribution to the team became even more valuable. She participated in 39 games and scored 4.5 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks per game. She was also a great defender and this was evident when she helped UConn to a national championship. Stokes’ senior year was the highlight of her college experience. She played in 39 games, averaging 4.5 points, 6.8 rebounds, and an impressive 3.8 blocks per game. Her performance led her to be awarded the American Athletic Conference (AAC) Defensive Player of the Year. Kiah Stokes High School

Kiah Stokes played high school basketball at Linn-Mar High School where she was a three-year letter winner. In her high school years, she played the starting position in 52 of 76 games, proving herself and her reliability on the field. While at Linn-Mar, Stokes received several achievements. In 2011, she was honored as McDonald’s All-American, which is a list of the best high school basketball players in the United States. She was also chosen to the Parade Magazine All-America team and the WBCA High School All-America team, which proved her as one of the best high school players in the United States of America at the time.

In her senior year, Stokes was able to score 25.0 points, 14.8 rebounds, and 5.1 blocks per game. Her dominant performances contributed to the team’s success and the team reached the state championship level at Linn-Mar. (via WNBA)
