Russian tennis player Liudmila Samsonova achieved a career-high singles ranking of No. 12 in February 2023. She is ranked No. 21 in singles by the WTA as of March 2025. In doubles, she achieved a career-best doubles ranking of No. 40 in June 2023. She advanced to the quarterfinals at the Indian Well Masters in 2025, but she lost to Aryna Sabalenka. Samsonova has won five singles titles and two doubles titles on the WTA tour as of March 2025. At the 2024 Abu Dhabi Open, she lost to top seed Elena Rybakina in the semifinal. At the 2024 Korea Open, Samsonova and Nicole Melichar-Martinez won their second WTA doubles title defeating the team of Zhang Shuai and Miyu Kato. She advanced to the quarterfinals twice at the 2024 Canadian Open and the 2024 Cincinnati Open before losing to Diana Shnaider and Aryna Sabalenka, respectively. She gave a walkover to Madison Keys in the 2025 Adelaide International after reaching the semifinals and retiring from the tournament due to an injury.

Samsonovawon her maiden tour title at the 2021 German Open, a WTA 500 event. She defeated Swiss player Belinda Bencic from a set down in the final. As of March 2025, her best singles grand slam performance has been reaching the fourth round of Wimbledon (2021) and US Open (2022, 2024). Samsonova and Kudermetova finished quarterfinalist at the 2023 French Open in the doubles category losing to regaining champion Hsieh Su-wei and Wang Xinyu. She and Diana Shnaider reached the quarterfinal of the 2024 Stuttgart Open.
