Columbus Blue Jackets

The Columbus Blue Jackets are a professional ice hockey team based in Columbus, Ohio, competing in the NHL as a part of the Metropolitan Division of the Eastern Conference. Founded on June 25, 1997, the team began playing in 2000 as an expansion franchise, calling their home Nationwide Arena, located in downtown Columbus. Initially, the Jackets struggled but they have made progress, reaching the Stanley Cup playoff for the first time in 2009 but were swept by the Detroit Red Wings.

A breakthrough came in 2019 when they won their first playoff series, defeating the top-seeded Tampa Bay Lightning. However, they have yet to win the Stanley Cup. In the 2023-2024 season, the Jackets finished last in the Metropolitan Division. Under head coach Dean Evason and captain Boone Jenner, the team is focusing on developing young talents.
