Jordan Staal is a Canadian ice hockey center and captain of the Carolina Hurricanes. He started his NHL career in 2006 with the Pittsburgh Penguins and set rookie records, including the youngest player to score a penalty shot goal and a hat trick. He helped the Penguins reach the 2008 Stanley Cup Final and won the Stanley Cup in 2009.

Staal was traded to the Hurricanes in 2012 and signed a 10-year, $60 million contract. He joined his brother Eric Staal on the team. He became co-captain in 2017 and full-time captain in 2019. He reached 1,000 NHL games in 2021. In 2022, he scored his first regular-season hat trick in 13 years, an NHL record for the longest gap between hat tricks.

Eric Staal is the oldest of the Staal brothers. He played junior hockey for the Peterborough Petes and was drafted 2nd overall by the Carolina Hurricanes in 2003. He won the Stanley Cup with Carolina in 2006 and became the team captain in 2010. He won Olympic gold with Canada in 2010 and captained the team at the 2022 Olympics. Late in his career, he played for the Rangers, Wild, Sabres, Canadiens, and Panthers. He retired in 2024 after signing a one-day contract to retire as a Hurricane. Carolina will retire his #12 jersey in January 2025.

Marc Staal is the second oldest of the Staal brothers and the only defenseman. He played junior hockey for the Sudbury Wolves and was drafted 12th overall by the New York Rangers in 2005. He became an alternate captain for the Rangers and played in the 2014 Stanley Cup Finals. Injuries affected parts of his career. He was traded to the Detroit Red Wings in 2020 and later played for the Florida Panthers and Philadelphia Flyers. Marc retired in September 2024 and will work as a player development assistant for the Rangers.

Jared Staal is the youngest of the Staal brothers and the only one who shoots right-handed. He played junior hockey for the Sudbury Wolves and was drafted 49th overall by the Phoenix Coyotes in 2008. He mainly played in the AHL and ECHL, with two NHL games for the Carolina Hurricanes in 2013 alongside Eric and Jordan. He later played in the UK’s EIHL. In May 2024, Jared became head coach of the Savannah Ghost Pirates in the ECHL.
