George Peter DeBoer is the head coach for the Dallas Stars. He is a co-owner of the Oshawa Generals in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). Peter has earned the Coach of the Year award twice in the OHL. He took on the role of head coach for multiple teams, including the Detroit Whalers, Plymouth Whalers, and Kitchener Rangers. He led the Kitchener Rangers to win the Memorial Cup in 2003.

Beyond the OHL, Peter took on the role of head coach for various other teams in the NHL. He served for the Florida Panthers from 2008 to 2011 and the New Jersey Devils from 2011 to 2014. DeBoer was hired by the San Jose Sharks on May 28, 2015. He was fired in December 2019 after a 15–16–2 start. DeBoer took over the role of head coach with the Vegas Golden Knights in January 2020 and was fired in May 2022 with a 98–50–12 record. He became head coach of the Dallas Stars, replacing Rick Bowness on June 21, 2022.
