Chennedy Carter Family

Chennedy Carter is a professional basketball player currently playing for the Chicago Sky in the WNBA. At 5 foot 9 inches tall, Carter is known as a high-volume shooting guard. Born on November 14, 1998, in Fort Worth, Texas, she began her basketball journey at Mansfield Timberview High School. She then continued her career at Texas A&M, where she quickly established herself as one of the top point guards in the country. She entered college basketball as the nation’s top-ranked women’s player as by ESPNW HoopGurlz.

In 2022, Carter was selected as the 4th overall pick by the Atlanta Dream in the WNBA draft. Her rookie season was impressive, as she emerged as a prolific scorer and earned a spot on the WNBA All-Rookie Team. In the next year, Carter was traded to the Los Angeles Sparks, where she averaged 8.9 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game. Currently, she is with the Chicago Sky, playing under head coach Teresa Weatherspoon, and also competes for the Turkish league team Bursa Büyükşehir Belediyespor in the off-season of WNBA. As of August 27, 2024, Carter averaged 17.2 points, 2.8 assists, and 3.3 rebounds per game in the Sky jersey.

Shonda Perkins and Broderick Carter are the parents of Chennedy Carter. The couple separated when Carter was so young and they lived a different life. Carter’s mother Shonda was a teacher and her father, Broderick was the first basketball coach who helped her learn to dribble through a tennis ball. Jia Perkins, who played for multiple NBA teams also related to her family.

Carter has three siblings and all are brothers named Cameron, Chandler Carter and Chendall Weaver.

Chendall Weaver is a basketball player who plays for the University of Texas as a point guard. In his freshman year, Weaver averaged 9.5 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game in 32 matches and for this achievement, he became WAC Freshman of the Year in 2023. He went to Mansfield Timberview High School. currently, he playing his sophomore year in college basketball at the Texas Longhorns men's basketball team.
